In South India, dishes without spicy cumin are not even imaginable and are used in all forms - both ground and whole. We each know the scent of this caraway and often automatically associate it with Indian cuisine. It is also called Indian caraway, onion seeds, zera. Cumin, however, resembles only in appearance. It is most popular in Latin America, North Africa and Asia.
