Sage, which grows wild in the Mediterranean, is used in both medicine and cooking. Its flowers are blue-purple in color and gathered in small bunches. Sage has a lightly peppery, sweet taste. Only a few types of sage are used in cooking, despite the fact that up to two hundred types grow in the world.
However, initially this plant was known precisely for its healing properties. This is evidenced by the origin of the word: in Latin "salvere" means "to be saved". It is used to treat a variety of ailments such as constipation, bleeding, bone and neck pain, itching, inflammation of the mouth, depression, bad dreams and severe headaches.
