Palm sugar is often mixed with coconut sugar, but these are two different sugars because these sugars come from different varieties of palms.

Palm sugar is used in Thai, Indian and other Asian cuisines. It is often found in curries, desserts and sauces. Palm sugar comes in a variety of forms - lumps, granules and syrups.

Palm sugar has a caramel-like taste and aroma and is not as sweet as white or brown sugar.
