🥩 Grilled Montreal steak

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • 2 beef steaks (ribeye, entrecôte or rump steak, each ~250–300 g)

  • 2 teaspoons Montreal spice blend

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Preparation:

  • Prepare the meat: Remove the steaks from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before cooking to allow them to come to room temperature.

  • Marinate: Rub both sides of the steaks with olive oil and sprinkle with Montreal mixture. Leave for ~15–30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.

  • Baking:

    • Grill: Cook on a hot grill for ~3–5 minutes on each side, depending on desired doneness.

    • On a pan: Cook on a heated cast iron or grill pan until the meat is browned and the inside is done to your preference (rare/medium/well done).

  • Resting: After cooking, let the steaks rest for 5–7 minutes, covered with foil – so that the juices distribute evenly.

  • Serve: With grilled vegetables, baked potatoes, or a side of crunchy salad.

  • Make the marinade: In a bowl, mix the Montreal mix, olive oil, lemon juice, honey, and garlic.

  • Marinate the chicken pieces: Pour the marinade over, mix, and leave in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (even better – overnight).

  • Baking:

    • In the oven: Preheat the oven to 200°C and bake for ~35–40 minutes, until the chicken is golden and juicy.

    • Grill: Grill over medium heat, turning occasionally, until the meat is cooked through and has a nice browned surface.

🍋 Tip: Add a little yogurt to the marinade if you want a milder and creamier taste.
